Tämä blogi on osa syksyllä 2008 alkanutta Turun yliopiston ja Turun Taidekatemian yhteistyöprojektia, joka kouluttaa opiskelijoita käytännön kuratointityöhön. Projekti huipentuu opiskelijoiden kuratoimiin neljään näyttelyyn syksyllä 2009 ja keväällä 2010. Yksi näistä näyttelyistä rakentuu teeman CAMOUFLAGES alle. Tämä blogi on näyttelytyöryhmämme visuaalinen muistikirja matkalla kohti Camouflages-näyttelyä, joka toteutetaan Valokuvakeskus Perissä, Turussa, ajalla 30.1o. - 22.11.2009.

Camouflage tarkoittaa maastoutumista, suojautumista, mukautumista, naamioitumista. Kuten kasvit ja eläimet, ihmiset muuttavat toimintaansa ja ulkomuotoaan eri tilanteissa ja vaaran uhatessa. Strategia toimii esteettisellä, eettisellä ja behavioristisella tasolla. Maastoutumisessa yhdistyvät kulttuuri ja luonto. Meillä kaikilla on omat tapammae suojautua ja mukautua - omat camouflagemme. This blog is a part of a project started on the autumn of 2008, initiated by The University of Turku and The Academy of Arts in Turku. Together these two institutes put up a program which educates students for a practical curating work. The projects culminates to four exhibitions, curated by the students, which take place during the autumn 2009 and spring 2010. One of these exhibitions will be curated under the working title CAMOUFLAGES. This blog is a visual notebook for us, curators in the making, on our journey towards the Camouflages exhibition held at the Regional Photograph Centre Peri in Turku, Finland during 30.10. - 22.11.2009.

Camouflages means to seek for a cover, to assimilate, to blend in, to masquerade. Like plants and animals, humans too change their actions and appearance according to different situations and threats. This strategy works on aesthetic, ethic and behavioristic levels. Camouflage is both cultural and natural effect. We all have our camouflages. Are you familiar with yours?
